About Twiga Who we are

Building workplaces where people and performance thrive

Twiga works with people centric organisations that want to strengthen their employees’ experience — building confident and capable people leaders, healthier cultures and ways of working that help your people feel engaged, supported and wanting to perform at their best.

Who we are

Senior experience. Human approach. Practical impact.

Twiga Training & Consultancy is led by Fiona Yensen, an experienced leadership, wellbeing and culture specialist who has worked across large, complex organisations where people, performance and change are deeply connected.

With over 30 years’ experience across the Civil Service, private sector, charity sector and a range of complex, people-focused environments, Fiona brings the insight of someone who understands the real pressures organisations face — and what it takes to turn ideas into sustainable everyday practice.

Fiona is a trained facilitator, coach and mentor, and has facilitated impactful sessions for thousands of people — from focused away days and small group sessions of around 10 people to large-scale virtual events and conferences of up to 400 participants.

Fiona was also recognised as a finalist for Most Inspiring HR Leader at the Great British Workplace Wellbeing Awards 2024.

Her BA Honours degree in Management & Marketing supports her work across leadership, organisational behaviour, organisational design, change, communication, strategy and evidence-informed practice.

Workplace wellbeing is not the problem. It is a symptom.

Support matters. But it cannot compensate for unclear priorities, poor management behaviours, low trust, unrealistic workload or cultures where people do not feel able to speak honestly.

Return on investment

The business case for getting this right is clear.

Wellbeing, leadership and culture work should not be activity for activity’s sake.

The right investment should help reduce avoidable pressure, strengthen manager capability and improve the everyday working experience.

Deloitte UK’s 2024 research reported that poor mental health costs UK employers £51bn a year.

The same research found that employers receive about £4.70 back in improved productivity for every £1 invested in workforce mental health and wellbeing support.

Ready to talk?

Healthy, resilient and productive workplaces do not happen by accident.

Let’s talk about what is happening in your organisation and what practical support would make the biggest difference.

What we do

Problems we help organisations solve

Twiga helps people centric organisations understand and address the issues that sit behind absenteeism, disengagement, turnover, HR concerns, low trust and stalled performance — then shape practical support across leadership, wellbeing, culture and ways of working.

Problems we solve

If these issues are becoming harder to shift, Twiga can help you understand what is really going on.

If your organisation is experiencing stubborn or increasing levels of absenteeism, staff disengagement, turnover and constant recruitment pressure, increased HR issues or grievances, stagnant performance or productivity, negative staff feedback, low trust or change fatigue — these are often signs that something deeper is affecting the everyday employee experience.

Twiga works with people centric organisations that want to strengthen their employees’ experience by building confident and capable people leaders, healthier cultures and ways of working that help your people feel engaged, supported and wanting to perform at their best.

The answer is rarely another isolated initiative. Twiga helps organisations pause, diagnose the current situation and identify what is most likely to move the dial — without overcomplicating the work or wasting time, money and energy on activity that looks positive but does not change the lived experience of work.

From there, support can be shaped around what will genuinely move the organisation towards its vision of what good looks like.

Common challenges

Twiga supports organisations where people-related issues are starting to affect wellbeing, engagement, retention and performance.

Stubborn or increasing absenteeism

Understand the workplace conditions, management habits and wellbeing pressures that may be contributing to absence and longer recovery times.

Reduced engagement and morale

Rebuild trust, motivation and a stronger sense of purpose by improving the everyday experience of work.

Turnover and recruitment pressure

Strengthen the employee experience so skilled people feel valued, supported and more likely to stay.

Increased HR issues and grievances

Build manager confidence around clarity, feedback, one-to-ones, wellbeing conversations and early intervention before issues escalate.

Stagnant performance and productivity

Help managers create the conditions where people understand expectations, feel trusted and can perform consistently.

Negative staff feedback or low trust

Translate feedback into practical action across leadership, culture and ways of working — so people can see and feel meaningful change.

Return on investment

Wellbeing, leadership and culture work should create value — not just activity.

There is a clear business case for investing in healthier working conditions, stronger management practice and earlier support.

Deloitte UK’s 2024 research reported that poor mental health costs UK employers £51bn a year, with presenteeism the largest contributor.

The same research found that employers receive about £4.70 back in improved productivity for every £1 invested in employee mental health and wellbeing support.

It also highlighted that earlier, organisation-wide interventions can achieve higher returns than support introduced only after people are already struggling.

Twiga’s approach is designed around this principle: diagnose the real issue, target the right intervention and help organisations invest their time, money and energy where it is most likely to move the dial.

We look beneath the visible symptoms to understand the leadership, cultural and working-practice factors driving the problem.

2

Design practical support

We shape training, facilitation or consultancy around the people, context and outcomes that matter most.

3

Help change stick

We focus on practical behaviours, confidence and routines that can be embedded into everyday work.

Service 01

Speaking & Facilitation

Credible, warm and practical sessions that help audiences think differently, feel safe to contribute and leave with useful insight.

Fiona can support conferences, leadership events, staff networks, away days and internal conversations where organisations want to create energy, reflection and action. She has facilitated impactful sessions for thousands of people — from focused away days and small group sessions of around 10 people to large-scale virtual events and conferences of up to 400 participants.

A great facilitator does more than manage an agenda. They engage participants, get people thinking about new possibilities and maintain energy in the room.

Fiona creates a safe, inclusive space where people can stay in learning mode rather than feeling they must perform. Combined with her breadth of experience and warm, grounded approach, she connects with audiences and inspires practical action.

Take your away day, staff engagement event or wellbeing awareness session to the next level. Twiga helps move sessions beyond the same familiar format — creating moments that feel meaningful, memorable and practical enough to have a lasting impact after people leave the room.

Service 02

Training & Leadership Development

Practical training that builds capability, confidence and better everyday management practice.

Twiga training is designed to help managers and teams make meaningful changes in how they communicate, lead, support wellbeing, create trust and improve the employee experience.

Why this matters: Gallup research finds that the manager or team leader alone accounts for 70% of the variance in team engagement. CIPD and Mind guidance also notes that how people are treated and managed day to day is central to mental wellbeing and engagement — and that poor line management may exacerbate or cause poor mental health.

Why leave managers to learn leadership through trial and error when you can embed best practice around one-to-ones, feedback, coaching, wellbeing conversations and clarity?

Training options

Choose the level of organisational impact you want to create

These options recognise and quietly celebrate your organisation’s appetite for change. Whether you want to spark a conversation, strengthen everyday practice or embed lasting change, Twiga starts by understanding the level of impact you want — then shapes the right format around your people, context and goals.

01

Inspire

Create awareness and challenge thinking.

A strong starting point when you want to open up a conversation, energise an audience or help people see leadership, wellbeing or culture through a different lens.

03

Transform

Embed behaviours that improve leadership, culture and performance.

This is where learning becomes lasting change — reinforcing new behaviours through peer groups, mentoring, implementation support and practical follow-through so leadership, culture and performance improve in everyday practice.

Once the desired impact is clear, the delivery format can be designed around it — from focused virtual sessions and practical workshops through to multi-session programmes and longer-term support.

Service 03

Consultancy & Strategic Support

Senior wellbeing, culture and employee experience expertise — without adding permanent headcount.

Not every organisation has a dedicated Head of Wellbeing, Head of Culture or Director of Employee Experience. Many still need that level of focus, structure, challenge and momentum.

All too often, workplace wellbeing, employee experience, ways of working and staff engagement are added to already stretched HR, people or leadership teams. Even with the best intentions, progress can become slow, fragmented and reactive — while absence rises, skilled people leave, engagement weakens and performance stalls.

Having Twiga Consultancy on your team gives you access to specialist expertise and guidance from someone wholly focused on these problem areas — workplace wellbeing, employee experience, engagement, retention, leadership capability, culture and ways of working.

Twiga works alongside your leaders and people teams to diagnose what is really happening, identify the changes most likely to make a difference, and build a clear, practical route towards stronger engagement, healthier working conditions, reduced avoidable attrition, improved wellbeing and better everyday performance.

Diagnostic support

Start with the real issue, not the obvious symptom

When workplace wellbeing feels complex, a diagnostic conversation can help organisations decide where to focus first.

Twiga can assess the current situation, explore what good looks like for your organisation and propose the practical interventions most likely to move you towards that outcome. This helps avoid wasting time, money and energy on activity that looks positive but does not change the lived experience of work.

Flagship programme

Management Foundations

A practical programme that gives organisations assurance their managers have strong foundations in place to get the best from their people consistently.

This programme is especially relevant for organisations experiencing staff absenteeism, increased turnover, reduced staff engagement, low trust, inconsistent management practice, change fatigue, stress, anxiety, burnout risk or performance that is not where it needs to be.

No matter how glossy your wellbeing strategy looks, how many bowls of fruit you provide, how often you run pulse surveys or how many wellbeing initiatives you offer, your people will not experience meaningful change if managers are not confident and capable day to day.

Proactive management matters. When managers are confident and capable, they are better placed to spot early warning signs, have timely wellbeing and performance conversations, create clarity and prevent smaller issues from becoming bigger problems with longer recovery times.

Fruit bowls, surveys and glossy strategies do not replace the everyday leadership habits that help people feel clear, supported, trusted and able to perform.

Doing the same things gets the same results. Management Foundations helps managers build the confidence, consistency and practical tools to get the best from their people — through better one-to-ones, feedback, coaching, wellbeing conversations and clarity.

If your people are your biggest asset, this programme is for you.

Managers will strengthen their ability to:

  • create clarity, autonomy and trust
  • hold regular, meaningful one-to-ones
  • use coaching practices to build confidence and ownership
  • have constructive wellbeing, feedback and performance conversations
  • build consistent management habits that strengthen engagement and trust
  • support retention, sustainable performance and better everyday working experiences

FAQ

Common questions

Brief answers to help people decide whether to make contact.

Do you deliver remotely or in person?

Most support can be delivered remotely. In-person delivery can be discussed where it will add clear value.

Can training be tailored to our organisation?

Yes. Twiga can tailor examples, language, case studies and outcomes around your audience and organisational context.

Who is your training most suitable for?

Managers, leaders, people teams, wellbeing champions, DE&I networks, staff networks and teams experiencing change, pressure or culture challenges.

Can you help us decide what we need?

Yes. A short conversation can help identify the real issue, what good would look like and whether speaking, training, facilitation, consultancy or diagnostic support would be the best fit.

What if our organisation has tried wellbeing initiatives before?

That is common. Twiga can help review what has been tried, why it may not have shifted the dial and what would be more likely to create lasting change.

How do you help us think about ROI?

Twiga helps organisations focus investment where it is most likely to make a difference: diagnosing the real issue, targeting practical interventions and linking activity back to outcomes such as manager confidence, engagement, retention, absence, trust and the everyday working experience. Deloitte UK’s 2024 research reported an average £4.70 return for every £1 invested in employee mental health and wellbeing support.

Do you offer retainer support?

Yes. Twiga provides flexible consultancy and retainer support for organisations that need senior wellbeing, culture or employee experience expertise without creating a permanent Head of Wellbeing, Head of Culture or Director of Employee Experience post. This gives you someone to guide you step by step: clarifying the current position, strengthening employee experience, improving staff engagement, reducing avoidable attrition, improving workplace wellbeing and helping people feel able and willing to thrive and perform. Support can include regular check-ins, action planning, review of progress and practical implementation guidance.

How do we get a quote?

Email Fiona with the audience, the challenge or problem you want to solve, ideal timing and whether you need speaking, training, facilitation or consultancy support. From there, Fiona will arrange a conversation to understand what good looks like, what is getting in the way and what support is most likely to get you where you want to be. A tailored proposal and quote can then be prepared.
